Our Intent

Our PSHE curriculum prepares children to navigate an increasingly complex world with confidence, resilience and empathy. Using the PSHE Association’s Programme of Study, we ensure clear coverage and progression across the school, helping pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their health, relationships and wider life choices both now and in the future.

Implementation

PSHE is taught through a structured programme that covers physical and mental health, wellbeing, relationships, living in the wider world and personal safety—including online safety. 

RSE is delivered at an age-appropriate level following statutory guidance.  Learning is enhanced through discussion, real-life scenarios and opportunities for pupils to reflect on their own experiences.

A distinctive feature of our curriculum is our end-of-year project, where children apply what they’ve learned across the year to a real-life context. These projects encourage pupils to use their skills to support or positively impact their school or local community, helping them understand the relevance and value of PSHE in everyday life. (Starting in summer 2025)

Impact

By the time pupils leave our school, they will understand how to stay healthy, keep themselves safe, build respectful relationships and manage risk and change. They will be equipped to make informed decisions, contribute positively to their communities and approach future challenges with confidence.

Our PSHE curriculum is regularly reviewed to ensure it remains aligned with statutory requirements, reflects the needs of our pupils and continues to foster their personal development.

Our Intent

At our school, Religious Education aims to inspire curiosity, respect and understanding. Following the Leicestershire Agreed Syllabus, we teach children about a range of religions and worldviews so they can recognise diversity, challenge prejudice and develop the knowledge they need to take part confidently in modern British life. RE also supports our wider British Values curriculum by helping pupils understand different beliefs, practise respectful dialogue and appreciate the role of faith and non-faith perspectives in society.

Implementation

Our RE curriculum is currently planned using the units and key questions from the Leicestershire Syllabus. Across each key stage, pupils learn about Christianity and other major world faiths, as well as non-religious worldviews such as Humanism. Lessons build on prior learning and include a range of engaging approaches: exploring artefacts, storytelling, discussion, drama and we often welcome visitors from different faith communities to enrich learning.

Impact

We assess pupils’ understanding at the end of each unit to ensure they are making progress in their knowledge, skills and ability to reflect on religious and ethical questions. RE is monitored as part of our regular curriculum review and findings contribute to ongoing curriculum development and ensure that our RE provision remains broad, balanced and in line with statutory requirements.
